The UK's first purpose-built commercial energy hub is coming to Sheffield.

Aegis Energy is building the UK's first network of clean, multi-energy hubs to accelerate the decarbonisation of commercial transport. Sheffield is where that starts: high-capacity EV charging and HVO, bays sized for commercial vehicles, and a site designed around the people who drive them - built from the ground up for vans and trucks.

Two energy options

You don't have to choose between electrifying now and keeping vehicles moving today.

Commercial fleet decarbonisation doesn't happen overnight. Different vehicles, routes and businesses will move at different speeds. The Sheffield Hub is built to support operators wherever they are in that journey.

High-capacity EV charging

High-capacity charging designed for commercial vehicles

Up to 400kW charging for commercial vehicles

On-route and depot-replacement charging

Bookable and drive-up access

100% renewable power

Designed to minimise vehicle downtime

HVO refuelling

HVO stands for Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil, and it is a renewable diesel alternative for trucks that requires no engine modifications – just fuel up in the same way as diesel.

HVO helps to decarbonise your heaviest vehicles and longest routes today, while your wider fleet transitions to electric on its own timeline.

Useful for heavier vehicles and longer routes

Supports truck fleets during the transition to electric

Built for commercial vehicles and the people who drive them.

The Sheffield Hub isn't just a place to charge or refuel. It's designed around the operational needs of fleet operators and the welfare of drivers spending long hours on the road. We are building a hub where your drivers want to be.

Showers and toilets

Clean toilets and showers for drivers. 24-hour access available, including through the night-entry zone.

Drivers’ lounge

Hot food, drinks and space to rest between shifts. Our driver building will offer 24-hour access to showers, toilets and a lounge, with staffed food service during the day. We will also offer vending machines for out-of-hours food and snacks.

Overnight parking

Secure overnight van and truck parking, with 24/7 CCTV monitoring and ANPR barriered entry - for fleet security and driver peace of mind.

Pre-book

Plan ahead and pre-book a slot for EV charging. Drive-up access will also be available.

Part of the network

Sheffield is where this starts - not where it stops.

We are proud to be working with the community in Sheffield. Our first hub, built on a former colliery site in South Yorkshire, is going to be based in the same region that powered Britain's last major industrial transition, and is now hosting its next one.

We plan to develop 50 hubs across the UK, designed to give commercial fleets reliable clean energy wherever they operate. Sheffield is the first. Further sites are in development.

Yes.

Yes, for both vans and trucks.

The Sheffield Hub includes a driver welfare building with clean showers and toilets and a drivers’ lounge with overnight access, and food and drink facilities. The planned staffed food service is during the day, with vending outside staffed hours.

HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) is a renewable diesel alternative for trucks using diesel engines. It can reduce lifecycle greenhouse-gas emissions compared with fossil diesel, depending on feedstock and supply certification — vehicle and manufacturer compatibility should be checked before use. For truck fleets where full electrification isn’t yet practical across every route or vehicle, HVO helps reduce emissions while wider electrification develops. The Sheffield Hub offers electric charging for vans, and both electric charging and HVO refuelling for trucks.
